Sandy Turner
SEN Consultancy
Empowering learners with
demand
avoidance to thrive
A consultancy service that aims to develop
understanding of Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) for parents and professionals in the field of Special Educational Needs,
instigating a catalyst for quality education for PDAers across the UK and further afield.
About Sandy
Sandy has spent her working life teaching children with special educational needs and leading teams and schools to advocate and provide a quality education for learners that lead to positive life long outcomes. Over the last 10 years she has specialised in supporting children and families affected by Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), a special educational need that sits under the autistic spectrum condition umbrella.
Few children with PDA successfully access learning within our school settings. Sandy believes that education, care and health settings can put in reasonable adjustments to support PDA learners and enable them to thrive. She set up the first Satellite centre in the UK attached to The Link school in the London borough of Sutton designed specifically to educate PDA learners within a school setting. She now uses her experience of working with these exceptional children and families to provide training and coaching support for any parents or professionals seeking to provide educational environments that will enable children and young people with PDA to succeed.
